To pile on, I was also going to make something similar for a very similar need (surprisingly hard to find prior art in this area that's good, probably due to so many people doing this) But I will try this once I'm back from PTO!

And to those that haven't dealt with pickled/fermented daikon before, be aware that the smell when opening the container is enough to clear a room!

One that that isn't clear is editor support -- I recently switched to poetry for a few repos at work because it took the pain out of editor setup for my team -- it works with intellij, vscode, and emacs (well, doom emacs made it pretty

I also use aichat. For some reason (well, I know the reason, it's shell quoting) I don't like passing prompts in via command line, so having a simple text-based TUI like a readline prompt is nice.

Amazing, you should add this somewhere public, like on the product description! I think this will make Linux (ecosystem) support for VRR better, as it will be another thing for relatively sophisticated Linux users to tinker with (which have

That's always going to be true of the night sky though -- and is the goal of astrophotography. That's not to say that there aren't some amazing aurorae that you can experience with the naked eye, if you go closer to the poles

Perhaps the coolest part of this update is a new 2.8k 120hz screen. This will be the first time I've upgraded a screen (myself) on my main laptop, although it ships in August. I wonder if 120hz will drain the battery a lot faster as OE

Mentioned this in another comment, but there are pretty good implementations of tiling window managers as kwin scripts inside kwin. I've been using Karousel and it's been great, coming straight from Hyprland. I use a plasma widget

I just switched from hyprland (due to those toxicity articles) back to KDE, and was pleasantly surprised at how much better these scrollable WMs are. I use Karousel[1] which is actually implemented as a KWin script, amazingly. [1] https:&#

I still wonder why there isn't a DIY option that builds in a touchpad or a usable trackball. It's great for bed / home theatre PC (HTPC) use, and some of us are just used to it There are existing keyboards out there, like the

One of the things I still think about doing is just removing the top screen of my framework and just using a pair of those AR glasses as its main monitor, keeping the bottom chassis as a keyboard/touchpad/mainboard. That's ho

I used egui + wasm to whip together a really quick GUI to help me learn to play chords on the guitar, and would do it again in a heartbeat, it's just so easy to reason about, debug, and use. I wouldn't use it for more serious apps

If you're a tinkerer/sysadmin/programmer (any combination of such) like me, and this is your first foray into these customizable DEs, be warned, it's somewhat addictive. I didn't sleep very well the first few nights

Full PR title is actually: xwayland: Add HiDPI support to Xwayland rootful Which is quite a distinction, as I imagine most desktop Wayland users do not run Xwayland rootful, but rather rootless.

Does it have to do with syllables? I use English mostly (and am certainly a native English speaker), but use my mother tongue to memorize numbers, as mine (Cantonese) has single syllable numbers. I think I can keep 5-7 numbers in short-term

This comment is assuming the 5090 will come with more VRAM right? I haven't heard if that will be the case for consumer cards, it would be obviously nice if nvidia did, but it doesn't seem like it is in their best interest to do s

As you may already know, getting a commonly used username is also somewhat of a curse (do you like getting "forgot your password" emails every hour?) Or tons of (mistaken) conversation requests?
