I’ve done a lot of open source and don’t get where you’re going. What was repurposed exactly? Blocks? A deprecated service that nobody volunteered to take over, despite messages asking for that? Something else? Was it free before? Is it sti

Why? It’s free software and a free OSS library. Be thankful examples even exist at all.

This thread is literally people complaining about the free software used to host free documentation for a free library. The onus is absolutely not on anyone to improve things for you just because you find them difficult. Consider how lucky

Right. Well, in that case I disagree with your assertion that scientists who put out publications of average-in-that-field’s quality are “worse than useless”. Not how science works!

I looked the man up, found an interesting tidbit, and posted it. I can see how it comes off as me not liking him, but I really have no idea who he is, so I’ll explain why I posted that quote I saw: If an individual is in question for taking

I honestly don’t understand the point you’re making. Obviously I don’t think fatherless households give rise to paraplegics. Lol. If you can explicitly state the ‘metrics under discussion’ I’ll give an honest response a go, but I really don

It is trivial. I just told you what to remove, and tracebacks will inform you of the ordering. I would advise the ‘newbie’ you speak of to learn how to read a basic error message and how to use the backspace key before tackling d3! (For ref

This. It’s literally just a matter of reordering variables, adding or removing a pair of parentheses, and removing the “return svg.node” call. People love to complain about free open-source documentation. Especially for d3 it seems. Shout o

Right, but the point I’m making is being raised without a father is not the (to take your example) paraplegic-level setback some in the red pill camp seem to think it is. It’s not even an outlier experience, either. Even among high achiev

If the CEO didn’t throw a tantrum over the exact things his company claims to support (OSS, creativity, etc.), nobody would know about the intern’s weekend project. But he did, and now we’ll see something of a Streisand effect [0]. To be fa

You can’t live out of poverty in the average American city on $10/hour, even if you’re single. I see your name mentions Boise - believe me when I say Idaho, ranked 39th in state population size, is decidedly not representative of the U

Lots of comments around code quality, primarily as it relates to testing. The real code quality sin here is that R, a vectorized-by-default language, is being used to employ for- and while- loops everywhere. It’s strange to see given the ab

Right, but if you heard an acid attack outside of your hotel three visits in a row, it’d be a different story. I’ve spent six years in the Bay (SF and Berkeley), and the unfortunate truth is that the feces, homelessness, and public drug use

Yeah, I think that hits the nail on the head. The nimby problem, on the other hand, shows how selfish intentions can also lead to very harmful effects. Spent 5 years there and am not envious of anyone living in the Bay at all.
