How do you share and publish terraform modules? Can you pip install a bunch of common configurations, and compose them together with your own app? It sounds like the value add for this tool is being able to describe your infrastructure as c

We manage them with env vars now. But we use salt (encrypted) to deploy a secrets file onto the server which is sourced before the app is started. With something like ECS I didn’t know if you could feed it an env file, and if you could, how

May I ask how you’re managing secrets with this setup? For example, the secret key or database URL. Our current setup deploys an env file which is sourced before starting the process. I’m less sure how this translates to a production docket

It’s good advice in general for most folks. For those that know of Troy and this particular site it’s fine, but the general recommendation still stands.

I can attest to this. Credential stuffing was the number 1 reason we decided to add the pwnedpassword validation to our signup flows. We were seeing thousands of IP addresses and hundreds of thousands of requests over a few days. Rate limit

Your argument wasn’t about privacy. I was contending your claim that they did nothing with the data - which is obviously false if you do software debugging, and clearly false if you read the sibling link with what they’ve actually done.

Have you ever debugged issues in production apps without logs? It’s awful. Production apps running on machines you don’t control? Even worse. To suggest that zero value has been derived by the client side analytics is naive at best.

I wanted to add a bit of positivity and mention that I'm really liking how the black project is approaching problems. For example, a few people brought up fluent interfaces[0] as an issue. There were many opinions about the right and w

I have to admit that I was very excited to begin enforcing black on all of our projects at work - until the double quotes decision. I’m used to single quotes everywhere (except docstrings!). I’m probably going to still move to black but I k

I believe they have different use cases. Pyproject.toml is more akin to setup.py (and publishing libraries) where Pipfile is to replace requirements (and building apps). All the people arguing over the “blessedness” seem to be ignoring this

People are not claiming they are being treated worse than less marginalised people. They’re claiming they themselves do not feel welcome. It’s definitely all about perception, but that doesn’t mean it’s invalid.
