It's weird to put their Darpa funding together with this decision and then lump the whole thing as Google being confused or hypocritical. Darpa funds fundamental research. They try to look ahead to what the military could use in 15 yea

In Idaho the LAW is for bikes to treat stop signs as yield signs, so they must slow and be prepared to stop. They are still at fault for crashing into someone. Colorado and Delaware have similar laws. 14 pedestrians were killed in SF traffi

Regulation would make it pretty good, even a 2-6 company oligopoly would could raise prices enough for very good margins.

Would also love to buy a great electric motorcycle/scooter. It's puzzling how much more robust the ebike market is compared to the electric vespa market. It isn't even a price issue, fancy ebikes are about the same cost. (The

Yeah, it seems like all the little stuff, bikes, ebikes, and electric scooters should Idaho stop. The stuff that kills people should have to do the full stop.

Jump bikes is my current favorite, the scooters seem a little wobbly and the little wheels don't like road cracks. And I like that they lock up and don't end up in bushes. Biking straight up SF hills in jeans without sweating is l

A land value tax works well, by removing the gains from land appreciation. This taxes the land value but not the property value, so the land owner captures the value of their improvement but not the value of rising land prices generally. If

The mayor has several levers to speed the construction of housing. More housing would get built with a pro housing mayor.

The highest estimate I can find is 1.5 million homeless in the United States, those who use some shelter during a year. The total number of chronic homeless seems to be 150,000 in the US. [1] The bay area has a population of 7 million peopl

I hadn't decided who to vote for, this helps. There is no more urgent problem in the bay area than housing and there is no way to fix it other than by building more housing. London Breed for mayor it is.

A minor quibble. No one is predicting one but a 9.0 is not really impossible in the bay area. I think a careful seismologist would say "we aren't predicting one". The Tohoku earthquake in Japan for example wasn't predict
