Uranium is easier to find than copper and other rare metals, because by weight, it can generate more power. There is uranium in sea water, and I bet it's efficient enough to filter that uranium.

You can't transmit energy efficiently over very large distances, power lines will have too much loss power due to resistance.

Renewables are not baseload. If you add batteries to the mix, nuclear is better. Not to mention the quantity of power produced. Nuclear is expensive because it's long term investment. Renewables also cost more in resources (concrete, s

I had a lot of fun using graphviz to create a call graph of my C++ code, thanks to clang. Unfortunately, I was not able to generate something readable.

Game engines are not good in general, because they do too many things. In my view it's better to pick libraries that do just what you need. It gets a bit worse when you need to write a functionality that is specific to your game, and i

Curious how much it cost to build for Lenovo, because since it gets user data, that's how it's being "financed".

I agree. Although I still think it should be possible to make some things obsolete in C++. The technical debt is real, and the language can hardly improve if old codebases are slowing down the evolution of the language. I already wrote seve

Since I've read that the key WASM person quit her job after a burnout, I'm quite pessimistic about WASM. Not surprised if it dies in future years. To be completely honest, WASM helps having cross platforms things, which is ALWAYS

Machine learning isn't really science, since it's only statistical methods. It doesn't provide insight into what intelligence is. It's only techniques, so it's just engineering. It's brute force hacking at best

DHT, however, is quite an impressive technology. I wish it was used more often, although I'm not sure what can be done to prevent abuse in clients.

I'm not a fan of china controlling such a popular app, but at the same time, I don't see how it could be a security risk. I guess in the same way fake news and deceptive political advertising was used on Facebook to elect Trump, f

The half-lying, half-dancing-around-legality, reminds me of Trump. It's like American capitalism has a big vulnerability and Musk is hacking it. Capitalism always needs to be properly regulated to work properly, but it quickly cracks w

For for curiosity, how does C handles this? Is that at the OS level? Because if it is, you can't really compare WASM to C, since WASM is not designed to be ran by an OS, so there are other protections. WASM comes at some cost I guess,
