Don’t get me wrong. I think there where places where JavaScript, SPAs and so on where the right decision but we used the same tech all over the place. I think that is the negative impact of working in a future oriented industry and one of t

I think it is interesting where the web is heading and where react.js and next.js are heading. Back to server side rendering, static pages/resources. All things we did about 10 years ago with Rails. In my opinion we went the wrong way

Normally I would recommend learning how to program and then trying to get a job that is related to your field. Both of those don’t apply to you. You know how to program but your knowledge is not up to date and your field of study makes it h

Batch files on DOS and Windows 9x (as well as BASIC) was my introduction to programming back in the 90s. The nostalgia is strong even though I’ve moved on to Unix long time ago.

Can any language make a comeback to its original popularity? I would argue they can’t because they where overhyped. I’m not interested in getting back to the overhyped level of popularity. That kept me away from Ruby on Rails for a while. B

As somebody who jumped ship, I sort of regret it. I tough I could share more code between the backend and the frontend with JavaScript but that sort of died early on when frameworks like Meteor where declared “the wrong way” of doing things
