One way out of the pool might be to reach out to potential teams herself, if you have any friends of friends within the 'plex who can send out tendrils internally. (Or just contact friendly people who post on HN... >.>)

And it is not like this deadline is unknown to employers. Sadly the recruiter who knows this deadline and the managers who have "Look for suitable interns" as one of very many todo list items are not one and the same. I did an internship

I don't have a DX, just an iPad, Xoom and 1st gen Kindle. But from those experiences, it's not the form factor that bothers me - it's the natural continuous access of the ebook format. I can't read PDFs onscreen for much the same reasons. W

Just bought it. I'm researching ways to teach computer science and this has come up in so many threads it's not even funny. :) (Despite it being a free ebook I vastly prefer print, another problem I'm trying to figure out and solve...)

Best practices these days tend to involve putting things in CAPITAL LETTERS, and occasionally bold or italic, and BEING A COOL DUDE, and getting real, and adding ten foot high 'Click Here To Purchase' links. I'll check those books out to se

I found this interesting timing, as I just unsubscribed from AppSumo today. Today's email was a huge dive into web-copywriting-drive-conversions-awfulness with all the stuff I really loathe about that corner of the Internet. Even when the p

Launching right after SXSW is in itself disruptive ;) I don't take photos on my phone to share on Facebook, so I genuinely don't know: do Facebook photos have location data? I think what's really interesting about Color is the notion of an

The switch from the general design-by-committee approach to "look folks, we're hiring a designer, and they'll sell their ideas to us" is a really interesting one, and mirrors a lot of the part-OSS part-corporate projects I've recently becom

Agreed. It's been a couple of years since I actively contributed to Wikipedia, but I had a really easy time of it, mostly adding new content that wasn't there at all and expanding stub articles with a factual basis. I can see why religious/

The email alert method of retention works to some extent, but the more engaged users (multiple meetup groups and interests) get so much email it just becomes spam. Plus, alerting to new groups in a very high traffic location is also a bit o

I travel overseas too, but I'd not want to face the roaming charges (I guess I could swap sims, but I have a phone hotspot anyway). Getting an iPad that works in the US (especially when there's a high density of Apple users, aka AT&T ca

Clearly Zappos' famously awesome customer service isn't good or memorable enough to make the off-the-top-of-your-head list there. Interesting! (They always keep saying "Whoa, Nellie! We upgraded you to express shipping free!" on my orders -

I cope with this with #3, I guess - not programming as a career. I can then do crazy prototypes and hackathons in my spare time and work on the general big-picture, product vision stuff that I really enjoy in my actual job as a product mana

I'm less interested in the sessions (I can read a conference guide!) and more interested in the parties, networking events, flashmobs, etc. Where to be and who to meet. Have you guys thought about this angle?
