The switch from the general design-by-committee approach to "look folks, we're hiring a designer, and they'll sell their ideas to us" is a really interesting one, and mirrors a lot of the part-OSS part-corporate projects I've recently become more familiar with.
Is design ultimately something that can't be done in patches and edits? I suspect so...
- cschwarm 16y agoEver tried to sell something to a committee? I don't mean this to be disrespectful but it's not as simple as it sounds. Especially, if the committee is clueless (or in disagreement) about the usual questions: What do you want? What do you need? What goals should be accomplished? It even gets more tricky if membership for the committee is not well defined.
