If you've gotten through to the interview stage then it doesn't matter what school you went to. Re-examine whether you did perform well in those interviews. :) Recommendations from people you know and have worked with and who can vouch for

There are also courses designed to support switching, e.g. I read maths with computer science IA which usually goes on to 100% maths IB, but switched to computer science without a single headache. A friend switched from computer science to

As a Brit I understand it in terms of the noun, not verb. "Food with us" is just as understandable as "Eat with us", though.

You do, though. I recently had my AdWords account suspended and got to talk to a human at Google to handle the issue (through normal channels). For Chrome OS, we have an actual call center with real people sitting in it.

I have to say I wish my first 72 hours in Silicon Valley were anywhere near that exciting. Great report, shows that if you time it well - and know people - you can really get a lot out of even a few days here.

I'm interested as to the anecdotal benefits of using a templating engine like jade or haml. I much prefer the longhand way of embedding code into handcrafted HTML, but then I date back to the early PHP and ASP days and use Django heavily at

A lot of the second half of this article could be summarised as "Think about people if your software/system/airport involves them." However, I'm not entirely convinced by her argument that this was the main flaw. Release without thorough te

As an ex-hardcore player I'm amazed at how easy it is to have fun in Cataclysm now without even raiding. And it's actually enjoyable treating heroic instances as I used to treat progress raids - reading up on a fight at a time, watching vid

Great idea - I'd love to help you guys out with copywriting, especially as it seems to be a big problem for HN-ers. Sadly, I don't have an iPhone so I can't even try the app. Meh.

Anecdotally (why my PhD turned out to be a bad idea): 1. I got a supervisor who gave her students a lot of freedom but it worked entirely the wrong way. 2. The UK doesn't pay well. 3. I didn't get any money for conference travel as my PhD s
