Usually a check mark to indicate completion or something has been verified and a checklist is a list of items to remember. You might ‘flag’ something to draw attention to it and usually in a negative sense like there is some problem or rul

Flags seems like an odd word to use for this, I thought it was to do with personal safety or rating people.

That’s wise but equally doctors treat disease and don’t tend to deal with optimising health.

The author didn’t really talk about those practical concerns, the focus seemed to be about aesthetics. If you have a look at Milwaukee avenue it’s much lower density than anything in Europe. I live in a much denser town and I couldn’t walk

In Europe walkability is great in cities but you usually pay a premium on housing because land is scarce. You can walk in the suburbs but there’s often no where local to go because the shops, schools, and workplaces need a level of scale to

Yes more supply would make it cheaper for the people in the niche that wants that type of house. The writer hints at this but the penny doesn’t drop. It’s most likely that maybe he doesn’t understand the middle and working class market as

My impression was the whole article is basically just “why don’t people like what I like”. These houses are scarce but that doesn’t necessarily mean the mainstream market wants that. It’s a niche.

Would evidence about masks wearing be one example? At the start of the pandemic it felt very surprising to me that we didn’t have a definitive scientific answer to whether we should wear masks or not. You’d think something so basic would be

I do that kind of quick spreadsheeting on the Apple Numbers app. I can’t say it’s particularly pleasant to use. There’s definitely a need for reimagining the spreadsheet UI for mobile spreadsheeting.

I understood it as they have a position where too much volatility may knock them off their perch. So that is like being short vol in a short strangle or short straddle type of position.

Depends on the country because there is massive variation on this in Europe. For example, not every country sees diversity as a positive, some are not that diverse at all or may be diverse in different ways to USA. It’s probably a bigger th

This is a pet peeve of mine too. It helps to have a small public api and encapsulate the parts we don’t need and to just wait until the api is stable before going to v1.

I find the “hero” wording a little grating and I think it’s the problem here. They’re just people expressing mostly subjective opinions. The problem is developers put these people on a pedestal and take their word as gospel. In reality you
