I find the “hero” wording a little grating and I think it’s the problem here. They’re just people expressing mostly subjective opinions. The problem is developers put these people on a pedestal and take their word as gospel. In reality you need good judgement to understand and appreciate the trade offs. I do also think developers look for silver bullets and happy to accept anyone with some authority telling them it exists and they needn’t think for themselves.
