Depends on the language. Python? No. C++ yeah, occasionally.

The Japanese rail network is awesome but it does not stop everywhere and it’s quite expensive. Japan is huge and taxis get expensive real quick. Consider Singapore, which is tiny, has a kick ass public transport system (trains and busses) a

The post they are replying to says "I don't understand oracles position here" and the comment explains it succinctly and factually - how does it not add to the conversation?

Guessing that 0.8x size increase for 1300% speedup was worth the tradeoff but maybe ≥1.5 size increase or more was not (especially considering a 1300%->2000% increase is not going to be user visible for 99% of the packages).

Sure, but would you rather have a bandaid or nothing at all? I don't think many people disagree that strong typing is a requirement for huge projects.

It’s cable TV all over again and it annoys me a lot. My process for watching something right now: 1. Use the AppleTV because no platform streams 1080p+ on Linux 2. Check Netflix 3. Check Primevideo 4. Check HBO (but not available on the App

It’s definitely a high cost implementation but it’s worked well as a brute force solution for multiple non linear measurements like multiple cameras + sonar etc.

I agree - but the counter example I'd give is portage which gives you all that and more.

Well with the older models you absolutely didn't have to worry about things breaking. I used and abused a 13" late 2012 model for about 4 years: * Used it under direct sunlight (and I live in Singapore so it's both hot and hu

ROS does not do orchestration. The only valid point you have is that ROS IPC can do with better serde and yes, protocol buffers are indeed more elegant. The rest of it's not relevant to the actual project at all.

Honestly, the language that I'd love get first class support for on ROS2 would be Rust. Robotics really needs type and memory safety while maintaining performance and I personally feel like Rust is the perfect fit. I'd also love t

I disagree. I think that the use of Python in ROS is the best of both worlds. ROS makes it easy to do sane-ish IPC even for folks new to programming and enables them to offload heavy numerical processing or real time tasks out to C++ or eve

The default keypress for / isn't captured and makes it difficult to type in an URL to search for (not that the URL search returned anything).

I fly that route often as well (and indirectly too when the directs were cancelled a few years back) but the difference from business to economy for those flights is like night and day.

This is awesome! I've been looking for an alternative to the bloated Electron mess that is Spotify's UI for a long time. It leaks memory like a sieve on Linux and is generally a pain to use. I'll try this out later.

Great job on building something but man I’d hate it if employers actually demanded always on video, even for calls. Slack is pretty intrusive as is.

I know I’m responding to opinion but: developer productivity isn’t one of the pitfalls of Python. Yes I agree that if you’re using Python for a large scale project involving lots of developers its not the best; but that’s because it doesn’t

3 source files, amazing. This is a great opportunity for folks to learn more about implementing a VPN. I'm planning to re-implement it in rust (to learn from) and then contribute to Wireguards rust effort.
