Hello! Do you need someone to talk to? I’m not qualified or anything though, just your average software engineer. Ping me.

I did a ray tracing based project in high school and can also confirm that PBRT is awesome. Gets the point across really well and the authors are (was) active on the mailing list.

Okay so you've a bunch of different devices that have different capabilities - can you also mention the different cables you had to get (I'm just curious). In my case I have a switch, 2 macbook pros (2018, 2019) and an iPad pro (1

Isn’t his reply valid and an exception to the rule given the context?

Yeah got locked out of a dedi this way (bad ipfw ruleset which killed my ssh connection) and the virtual console wasn’t working. Fun times. At least it was a personal machine.

Thank you, forcing everyone onto a landing and wasting loads of data just rendering the garbage page is the worst UX on the planet.

I do have that CPU but I bought it because it was really close to the X series chips (feature wise) without the extra dime.

You forgot one thing, if you’re ever executing one off statements make sure they’re in a transaction if it’s an insert or update. BEGIN; Statement COMMIT; or ROLLBACK etc

I have the same setup too, but with my own infrastructure running on my own "LAN" through Wireguard. I'll think about writing up a guide on doing this.

Rest In Peace, Joe. I’m surprised and ashamed that I have not heard about him but thanks to the HN community for posting links to his thesis and talks. Wonderfully approachable and a great guy.

I have a 1080ti too, 2x HDCP2.2 (over DP) compatible monitors and a 1 gbps connection and yet I can’t even stream 1080p content on Linux, much less 4K. I guess it’s still me to blame because I pay for it for friends and family who use my ac

I kind of have to disagree slightly with what you said there, namely about solely relying on SSH. Some context: I have been using ROS1 for ~5 years and I'm a contributor to the core libraries. I have not dealt with multi-robot swarms b

Gentoo! It’s a great distro, gives you loads of choice (even lets you go with systemd) and the developers actually care about open source and the act of giving a shit (unlike what I see from the systemd bug tracker).

I believe you’ve not been on the receiving end of a 17 page compiler error while trying to compile a template heavy app, because you forgot to put an &. The important part is to realize _why_ you’re fighting the compiler as it’s trying
