I've been thinking about a hypothetical CPU that has explicit cache and RAM access. It's pretty close to OP's alternative universe. What would happen is people would write wrappers for such a system so that you could think ab

In a 4-dimensional space, 1-dimensional knots are trivially untied, because you can pass strings through strings by "lifting" the string into fourth dimension (strings can "pass through" each other).

As a matter of fact, yes, planes can be tied in knots. Here's a page from "Knotted Surfaces and Their Diagrams" by J. Scott Carter: http://i.imgur.com/2rIKJ8E.png

A much better way to mitigate XSS/HTML injections is not using string functions to generate HTML. CSP prevents an attacker from executing scripts, but the attacker can still corrupt your HTML.

No, because "warp drives" in the sense of "Alcubierre drive" requires negative mass, which is not observed anywhere.

I must say that I find the lines confusing. I don't understand what they mean. I think it would be nice to have a complete memory lookup written down step by step in text form. e.g. we're trying to look up the address 0xAA i

I am yet to see an example that makes me say "this JSON file does not represent the data very well, I wish they used XML instead". Representing HTML/XML does not count.

Very cool! Is it possible to modify the algorithm to use vertex color instead of triangle color? It is possible to do interesting stuff like Homeworld 2 backgrounds. http://simonschreibt.de/gat/homeworld-2-backgrounds&#

If you host SVG file on the same domain as the main site, I can give a direct link to the SVG file and your browser will execute arbitrary JavaScript in that context.

I see a big security problem with SVG: browsers allow executing scripts in SVG files in site security context, so you have to check for a lot of script execution vectors in SVG before you allow uploading user files. https://githu

Not a question, but some suggestions: - Make sure you're streaming in low-delay mode. I've seen some people stream with 8 second delay, but I don't know how they do it. - Count `Ctrl-C` and similar combinations as a single ke

I wonder if it's possible to do a similar thing for codegen. i.e. generate more efficient code based on SMT solver and CPU model.

I'd like to note that IO does not give a guarantee of impossibility of extracting keys. AFAIK, the definition of IO is: we have two programs that perform the same computation. After we apply IO to both programs, we cannot figure out wh

There is another pathfinding algorithm with smaller pre-computation step and comparable (if not higher) speed. It allows you to do benchmarks on various maps, and it compares itself to other algorithms. I also think it's simpler than J

Here's a crazy thought: we already have a common denominator -- IPC. You can write part of your program in Java and other part of it in Python. But the cost of transmitting messages is considered too high most of the time.

Here's one of the reason not to install antivirus software: if a malicious adversary finds a vuln in the AV or hacks C&C servers, you have a nice backdoor you installed to "protect" yourself.
