Yes to the large desk! I have a dining table with the leaves taken out. I can't believe how tiny home desks are. No one would tolerate a 28" depth at work -- why do we just accept this in the home?

Second on a NICE sizable monitor -- and high pixel density too. I have a Dell and one USB-C cable does the trick. No dock needed, it has enough USB-A (webcam, keyboard).

Ahh, thanks for the memories! If it weren't for my slow reflexes, I would have been much better at that game.

I feel similar. No matter how good at Python I get, I doubt I'll ever write an C interface, I just don't need that. I've used pandas and some of these randomly, but TBH I'd rather write a dataclass with static typing rat

Companies are legally required to keep payroll records for multiple years (depends on where you live, though I doubt most places are less than 3-4). This is ok advice, but these systems don't just work like this. If you didn't hav

Yes, I think it's kind of odd to see people disregarding some of the pretty impressive efficiency, security, and reliability improvements the phone hardware has undergone. Smartphones are astoundingly good at their jobs.

It would require voting for the other party. The big issue is the parties being willing to back aging candidates. But of course, party leaders are just as old -- so they see no problem.

I used bash and netcat for a queue like this once. I stashed the on disk if the database was down and read them back if far end was down. The think Kafka really brings to the table is trusting the pipe -- in a case where writing to disk que

The reason we have hierarchy in business is to ensure the burden of error is shared. Bosses and managers are there to ensure their employees are providing a reliable service (among other duties). Was a process of sign-offs implemented to pr

I'm not usually impressed with revelational experiences like this -- I offer a tidbit to anyone who is struck by this. If you need to power off for an extended period in order to form connections with nature and people, to feel "r

I tend to fall to this side. If you have anxiety while reading emails, you might also have anxiety while not reading emails. If your anxiety causes breathless-ness, you should focus on treating anxiety. Really smacks of the you should be dr

We have plenty of licensed RHEL, but in isolated environments the hurdle of connecting to a Satellite server or their subscription hub on the internet is too high -- at least with Rocky and the ilk available. For this set up, the licensing

My viewing experience has improved so much since committing to subtitles that I just assume people who are "against it" are missing a decent chunk of the dialog. I went to a ROMCOM in theaters and still couldn't make out the

I wish I could type the face I made when the alternative to import os is to install a package from pip. The most reliable Python is written only using builtins.

It's just the process of converting every cost center role into a more efficient half-IT and half-HR/Accounting/OPs role. No one will train anyone so what's the next best thing? Automate stuff; or at least pretend to and
