I recently got a new work laptop that came with Windows 11. I haven’t really noticed any differences aside from the new Windows Terminal (which I like a lot and have integrated with git bash), new Task Manager, and some visual changes. I st

I actually used to have that issue years ago at work. To work around that I just enabled a keepalive (ServerAliveInterval maybe?) setting in my ssh config. I don’t connect to any ssh servers outside my house for long periods of time, so I h

I’m behind CGNAT for the last 1.5 years without issue. What am I missing? I actually prefer my router not being bombarded by connection attempts all day.

This was measured with an old school Kill-a-Watt. When idle, the HDDs spin down. Keep in mind these are 2.5” likely 5400rpm or less (WD Passport 2TB).

Another option, if your needs are relatively modest, is to choose a low power mini PC. The one I chose idles at around 5W under Linux before any tweaking. It is based on the Intel N5105. I have a few 2.5” external HDDs attached for backup w

When my office closed about 5 years ago, there was a Brother HL-4150CDN on the trash pile. Apparently the warning to replace the drum was enough to deem it not worthy of being shipped back to headquarters. I took it home, reset the drum lif

I keep their cash wise card solely to pay my mobile phone bill. When you do so, you get free accident insurance for the devices on the plan. I’ve taken advantage of it multiple times (kids), and have had zero issues with claims.

Metronet in the US does CGNAT. I’ve had them for about a year and a half. Hasn’t caused me any real issues other than the occasional captcha.

Just a heads up, on my iPhone, when I scroll to the All Remote heading and stop (on your first link), I get a wild flicker as the page tries to scroll back and forth rapidly. Just thought I’d let you know.

I actually only recently became aware of Thonny when working with MicroPython on a Raspberry Pi Pico. It made it really easy to work on a program and execute it on the device. I’ve worked with Arduino and such over the years, but the edit&#

My ISP (Metronet, Ohio, US) uses CGNAT. I’ve had their service for about 15 months now, and it has been pretty much uneventful. Maybe a handful of times I’ve gotten a captcha on something, but for the most part, it’s just fine. I also don’t

This was why I originally chose the HDHP a few years ago, as it was cheaper than our traditional copay plan, and I received ~$2k each January to put into our HSA from my employer. However, as we’ve gotten older, we’re hitting our deductible

Nice. I’ve been wanting to go with something simpler and lighter than Influx and Grafana, but the setup was so dang easy, and rtl_433 as InfluxDB support built in, so I went the lazy route :)
