Peak-cloud - full saturation with no Market left to penetrate Of course sizeable companies of all sectors are using hybrid. Always been the case. Both things can be and are true: owned is growing. Cloud is growing

Of course there is room for self hosted solutions, which will continue to grow as well. But if you think we are anywhere near peak-cloud then I would be eager to understand your logic. The global cloud market is in the midst of a ~25% CAGR

He's saying that cloud technology is only just beginning and the bazillion dollars that cloud and cloud related services are currently worth is just the start. I agree 100%

Downvotes....LOL. I forgot how much it upsets people on HN to take issue with Apple in any way, shape, or form.

One of Apple's more egregious contributions to technology. Almost every web client I've ever had asks for grey text and sends apple.com as an example of what they like.

Ted Cruz is well known for being 2 people. A Texas monthly pc a couple years ago caught both sides at once when a staffer kept letting an elevator door ding as it was being held open. Ted was doing his politics side with the reporter and lo

Well sure. But if one is looking to find "purpose" in life then neither a unicorn nor being ceo of Google does much relative to curing cancer or space exploration. I guess i found it interesting that the suggested "purposes

I recognize that this is largely a tech forum, but I find it interesting that you choose being a founder or CEO of Google as your benchmarks as opposed to walking on the moon, curing cancer, or something else. Not a critique, just an observ

Things cost money. The fact that they didn't used to cost money is not sufficient inertia for them to not cost money in the future. I too maintained a free WordPress blog which, I suppose, will be impacted by this. But my nostalgia fo

Bingo. Companies of this size don't make these investments without a crystal clear business model. So while Joe consumer and most of HN decides this tech, I assure you that Walgreens has increased profits by a meaningful amount as a re

IBM, Oracle, Panatir....in a lot of cases these are pro services companies that custom build whatever is needed. LOTS of money in enterprise application development.

I'm not an engineer outside of the occasional WP site, but that's enough. Cold email is my bag and I'm a good (and proficient) writer. In October I started cold emailing internet, marketing, and SW companies asking if they n

It still works. You don't need a lot of little old men buying knockoff Viagra or little old ladies looking for love to make a decent wage in a lot of countries. Also, you take for granted that everyone is benefiting from Google and M

The Boss's quarrel is with your manager, not with you. A pleasant and professional "I'm working at the direction of my manager" is warranted.

This x100000. There is no scenario - none - where thousands of engineers at Google working on search wake up in the morning and say "we sure have made it good enough wr2 SPAM. I think I'll have another Danish."

This is a great example of understanding a market. An engineer might think that a document management platform should have a great UX/UI and lots of bells and whistles. But that stuff is secondary to "a court will accept it."
