Kinda odd to see the title 'founder'. Linux is no startup or company. Linus is more like the original author, maintainer or creator of Linux.

As an outsider all I see is political struggle of the kind corporations create. As an user of open source I don't see why I would be stressed out this project didn't land under the stewardship of CNCF, a foundation created just 5

I have the Lenovo Legion 5. Only problem with it is the trackpad doesn't work with Ubuntu 20.04 (some kernel regression that I don't have the time to track down, so I'm using an external mouse).

Tempest in a teapot. What's wrong with competing open source foundations? Wrong people on the board?! I find this supremely rich considering OpenJDK is 100% Oracle and not under the wing of any foundation. So much for open governance.

In my book a professional that marries a given platform so hard is no true professional. Although it might seem oh so sensible and realistic to give into even more strings to be attached. It should give these professionals pause if they are

Of course, the question is a false dichotomy. Now is the perfect time to switch to something else entirely. The Ryzen laptops with Linux are beasts and even Windows might be a good developer workstation with their Linux subsystem.

+1 The Ryzen 4800h is the biggest leap in terms of CPU power for me since the Core Duo days. My 2015 MBP seems quite slow now. And the Lenovo Legion 5 was less that $1000!

Try Mercurial https://www.mercurial-scm.org Commands make sense there! Git honestly feels like a low level library that no human should use. It's a very performant 'framework' that better tools could be built on.

For a 3rd party this changes nothing: the master key is still under the control of some corporation. Both AMD and ARM have something similar to Intel's ME. Let's not pretend this is by accident.
