I heard of HathiTrust Research Center but didn't know almost all the books were scanned by Google. Google was nice to want to share. But I think the original and ongoing concern was improved image recognition and NLP. Ie. Machine Learn

In Romania we have Visa PayWave for years. For small amounts you just wave the card in from of the POS and you are done. For bigger amounts you are asked your PIN and I find that reasonable. I don't see how waving my watch in front of

At company level lessons learned turn into internal rules. Too flexible holiday time results in more explicit rules about what is and what isn't allowed. The endgame is you become too bureaucratic after enough creative employees.

As another European, I'd say a market without rules and arbiters will in no way converge to an utopia of fairness and freedom. I'm sure Google is all too happy to fight with tiny European companies and eat their lunch. But only th

It kinda sounds like using UNIX pipes but you would also need a context of global variables and running threads / processes. In my vision the blocks would share memory / variables.

Not sure why Java gets so much hate. I think it's some PTSD from bad corporate jobs. It's quite good that we have a rather performant, cross-platform, GCed language. I also didn't feel any epiphany while learning Clojure. I t
