If you think that FAANG and other tech companies aren't filled with spies from around the world, you're incredibly naive.

You are incredibly naive. Apple started out saying that they can't decrypt data from anyone's phone. They fought a lawsuit from the FBI over the San Bernadino terrorist phones. This is one of the reasons why I went all-in on Apple

How do you know there aren’t bad actors working at the NCMEC? If I know that adding a hash to a list will get it flagged, and I could conveniently arrest or discredit anyone I wanted, I would certainly send people to work there. How will Ap

Right. Kind of like how copyright violations on YouTube are double checked and the humans say “that’s weird” and deny the request. Or maybe they will just report everything and let the law work everything out. If they’re innocent they have

How do new hashes get added to this database? How do we know that all the hashes are of CSAM? Who is validating it and is there an audit trail? Or can bad actors inject their own hashes into the database and make innocent people get reporte

Whoever controls the hash list controls your phone from now on. Period. End of sentence. Apple has not disclosed who gets to add new hashes to the list of CSAM hashes or what the process is to add new hashes. Do different countries have dif

Your understanding is completely incorrect. N95 prevents you from getting the virus first and foremost. The only question was how well does the mask need to be put on, but that's a training issue, much like washing your hands properly

I have the last non-subscription version on my Mac, PC and phone. They sync through Dropbox. The chrome extensions stopped working a few years ago so I got into the habit of just manually searching, cutting and pasting my passwords, and sav

This is the video by the daughter of the founder of the Russian School of Math. We sent our son there over the summer, he enjoyed it and all the kids were pretty advanced in the class. California seems to want to hold everyone back in the n

It’s frightening how some people think everything should be about money. Profits are not everyone’s goals nor should they be.

Who determines whether something is CSAM? How do you or I know that every single one of those images actually is CSAM? How do we know if the FBI or CIA or CCP adds hashes of innocent pics in order to pin a crime against someone?

I thought Indians largely looked down on dating, although maybe the times have changed in the last 10 years? I have many close Indian friends and they are all married via arranged marriage. I’m pretty sure their American-born children will

A “pint” of ice cream is only 14 oz now. A package of bacon used to be 16 oz but now it’s 9-12 oz. But in order to make it seem like a lot, they slice the bacon so thin, the pieces stretch and get ruined as you pull them from the package. S

Police routinely get drug sniffing dogs to give false positives so that they are allowed to search a vehicle. How do we know Apple or the FBI don’t do this? If they want to search someone’s phone all they need to do is enter a hash of a pho
