Intuit's business model is making tax preparation easier. If tax preparation wasn't so deliberately complicated in the US, they would no longer have a viable business model.

California offers the typical international option: they'll send you your estimated annual taxes, and you just jave to correct them if there's a discrepancy. This was supposed to be the default option for Californian state taxes.

My kid and I both hate the invigilation trends in education, but he is far from broken/domesticated. Instead, it is inducing him to rebel against it. He is actively looking for ways to defeat this garbage tech.

Are you looking for 100% effectiveness? That's not how anything in the world works. If I can reduce the probability of spreading infection, that is a clear benefit to society. If enough people reduce the probability of spread enough

Vaccines reduce transmission rates for the variant for which they are developed. The wearing of masks for COVID had the unintended side effect of eliminating some strains of influenza. I don't read Reddit, and I take my media with a he

Likelihood of variant strains depends on the infection rate. Reduce the number of infections and you reduce the variants. Talk to me about how near total vaccination rates are impossible the next time you contract smallpox or polio.

This isn't the case where the actions of the group are harmless to me. Unvaccinated people and antimaskers are creating a more dangerous environment for me through their actions and inactions.

Antimaskers and antivaxxers frequently talk about their "freedoms" in the abstract. Here is an example where I am concretely losing my freedom to travel, because a portion of the populace refuse to take basic precautions.

Yes, the fed issues currency by fiat, but the actual resources consumed by this war probably account for the monetary price tag. Additionally, the money spent did not vanish in a puff of smoke at the end of a gun: it lined the war chests o
