Having done just that I later about for months before I started to see very noticeable effects. It took me a month to recover to a point where I wanted to look at code again. Half a year before I wanted to give it another try. In comparison

Depends on where you are in the world. Java is required for online banking in Norway, while it's mostly unused in Sweden, the neighbouring country. Both use Java for online verification to government sites.

I am very happy with Clojure :). But every time I have tried to introduce it into a workplace it has been the effect of the alien spacecraft. Too alien, too little to hold onto for the average working programmer (by this, I don't mean they

The one thing I think he missed was the use of a ton of javascript snippets from different services used to "enhance" the site. Several seconds are normally added to loading the page.

Examples from Michael Behe's book Darwin's Black Box: Blood's ability to coagulate is a cascading system with over 30 parts. Remove one part and it's fatal for the individual. How could a system like that evolve gradually over time? He list

Fairly big difference between asking "Why don't they...?" and "Why don't they just...?". The 'just' tacked onto the end of the beginning of the question implies it should be totally obvious.
