Maybe I'm similar, but I can say that based on comments I've seen here I'd be far more likely to email jemfinch back than up_and_up.

If that's your natural communication style, your "more professional" style is probably drone-ish and fake. The probe most active on that first contact with an applicant is the honesty one, and it's pretty easy to trip when you're not in yo

Are you using some old version of JSP? Not unlike many other mature technologies, many times people are just victims of some arbitrary corporate standard and not the tech itself. As far as limited, I looked at Django strictly for it's vaun

I still don't see the problem here. They're a small, selective network, with relevant ads that don't need to be intrustive to add value. I think the author is saying that more of these are part of the solution, as they can tune ads to the

I use, (and pay for), Readability, and I don't really see this as a extra work or a hack or a a necessary evil on my part. Even if these interstitials weren't there, I'd much rather hit tilde without even thinking, than have to read a page

Makes a good hide-in-plain sight crypto key. I could see James Bond using this and destroying the key as the bad guys approach with a little 52 pickup.

Try/catch may be an anti-pattern in a dynamically-typed language, but not in a static-typed language. In static languages they're important and valid because they help avoid the "returned a null what?" question.

So removing error handling makes code "confident"? There were some other good points in there about encapsulation, but communicating to users properly trumps looking pretty to programmers.

A small part of me wishes that I didn't enjoy coding so much, or that I wasn't good at it, or that it didn't pay so much better than woodworking, which I find just as enjoyable.

And more specifically: It appears to be common Hackernewserthink that "productivity" equals "the ability to type code as fast as possible".

You can pay your loans off but still increase your debt by taking out new loans. In the case of most governments, this is usually how they pay off the old loans.

We're 0% productive most of the time. Sleeping, commuting, meetings, lunch. Adding a negligible amount more for tooling is not really an issue. I'm essentially dependent on Eclipse when doing Java. It takes me < 1 hour to get it set
