Yup - I hate the HR hype (you're HR right) that "OMG LOOK @ WUT WE PAYZ!!!!111". I've spent the past 10+ years as a defense contractor working cleared programs. I've seen all sorts of sleazy work done by HR and management to push salaries

HR makes the sell that "after a few years the candidate -could- be making that kind of money". The few years never really come, so the employee moves on. Except that the next company makes the same commitment.

That's worse than the OP's link. If any company paid that much there'd be a line at the front door every single day of people wanting to be hired.

I've worked for 4 companies within http://washingtontechnology.com/toplists/top-100-lists/2011.... The rates that I've seen has actually gone down, Back in 2001 a developer with a TS/SCI/FSP would get around $45K with about 5 years exper

Top companies? LOL - I remember being contacted by Google (whatever division they have in the Washington DC area). They wouldn't commit to providing the hardware or software to do the job, or even keep the benefits the same when you move

Haven't seen, or known, anyone close to that in 10 years of being a DoD contractor.

Your reference is like citing Ms Cleo - pathetic actually. If companies actually paid those amounts listed there'd be a line of applicants at the front door every single morning wanted the job.

You're "facts" are far from that. The developers we have onsite with the customer (Department of Defense with Top Secret clearances) are paid roughly $40-50K/yr USD. If there were companies that actually paid the salaries you're quoting the

Talk about Google scraping the bottom of the barrel. "Remember, digg failed because it alienated the users, attempted to wrap too much UI around the content; limiting the consumption rate, and pandering to media channels." Bingo. Unless us

A couple of friends and I got this idea a few years ago. We've accumulated over 340 companies their recruiters who are less than desirable. Inflated salaries lead the pack of the tactics used. Posting misleading information about the job

I'd love that. I've seen cube sharing and even PC sharing. I interviewed with one company where the developers sat in some leftover space between a cubical wall and a real wall. Another company I worked at a 3 to 4 person "suite" measured i

UW reporting in (87-91) Way back when ... there weren't really career fairs. The big 4 (Microsoft, Boeing, Safeco, and Weyerhaeuser) just advertised in the paper. If there was a cool time to work for them it had to have been before then.
