You would never put it on? I think it’s fine if you turn it off because it’s a huge call or you’re occasionally doing the dishes or whatever, but always off is disrespectful to your colleagues imho.

Yeah same. I have found a strong correlation between people who always(not sometimes) have camera off and people who are average-to-poor at their jobs and end up getting let go. It’s a decent indicator of someone who is checked out or medio

Weirdly I think rivian too. They think they can be better at car media software than apple - they’re wrong, and I hope they change their mind.

I’m not sure it’s possible or desirable to make a low memory search index. Like, fundamentally you’re going to want the indexes in RAM for performance, no?

Tell your scrum master to go jump (or even better don’t work anywhere with a scrum master). If your title is principal architect, then the business expects different things out of you than story points.

Ah yes let’s use data from 100+ years ago from a nearly pre-industrial economy as the basis for what we should do today

There’s at least some disincentive to doing this with card networks (have to talk to someone, do it too many times and they’ll cancel your card , etc). Automatic, no questions asked unarbitrated disputes would collapse the system very quick

this is a huge factor. I have found a lot of vp/exec folk are totally blind to the fat that their significant wealth makes commutes go away, and makes it easy to have a decent lifestyle AND be close to the office. This is especially an

I’ve seen splitting things go bad too. But less often and to a lesser degree of pain than mono dbs - a bad split is much easier to undo than monodb spaghetti. However I think it’s “thou shall” rules like this blog post that force useless ar

This is so painfully painfully true. I’ve seen in born out personally at three different companies so far. Premature splitting up is bad too, but I think the “just use one Postgres for everything” crowd really underestimate how bad it gets

I am willing to bet $100, through any escrow mechanism of your choosing, that we are not getting locked down again. There’s no appetite for it, and no reason to do so. Vaccine requirements are not a “lockdown” though by any common understa
