AirPods Pro... I live in a lively household and the ability to activate noise cancelling so I can study/read/think is an amazing quality of life improvement.

Yeah I recently started reading again in my adult life (highly recommended btw), and I had to retrain my brain to sit through the slow drip of information. First a page, then a couple, finally a chapter. One things that stood out to me is b

I have both, I default to the Steam Deck for most things - but use the Ally for incompatible games, alternative launchers, and Gamepass.

Nice reference site. Not to nitpick but it would be cool if search parsed the Description and Usage field as well, for those times where you remember what a command does but not what it is.

Not literally no, but the spirit of the sentiment is true. Have been in some flavor of networking for the past decade, there is a reason it hasn’t been universally adopted despite being ratified 25 years ago.

> Meta’s Quest Pro delivers 22 PPD Wow, the resolution + lens solution on the Quest Pro was already really close to workable for streaming your computer screen. I imagine it’s a solved problem at 60 PPD.

Fair point - but according to the dataset it defines “used” not as having adopted, but merely having used it in the last 3 months.

Wow that is significantly more than I would have guessed. Fun little comparison, it took until 1996 for 14% of North Americans to have used the internet. https://ourworldindata.org/internet

Probably not as serene as the star-filled countryside they replaced.

Fair assessment, but I still think that is tangentially related at best - and only relevant to the cloud due to a bundled subscription.

by crims0n 4y ago
In my opinion, it is only growing because it is bundled with popular subscription services like Game Pass. I don't think the sector has it's own legs to stand on, but time will tell.

Typically it means gaming workloads rendered in the cloud, which artificially appears popular at the moment because it comes bundled with game subscription services such as Playstation Plus and Xbox Game Pass - but as Stadia's failure

| Britain’s antitrust watchdog vetoed the gaming industry’s biggest ever deal saying it would harm competition in cloud gaming Cloud gaming? Really? Seems a bit tone deaf. Is the CMA known for not understanding the markets they regulate?

Yeah fair enough, if it was just the concrete I could get by with the electric blower. I have some gardens, grass, drainage, and 300' of road to keep tame as well.

I moved to a two acre wooded lot a few years back, and brought my trusty battery blower that served me well in the city… that lasted one season. I caved and bought a backpack blower last year for about $300 USD. Is it obnoxious? Sure is. Ba

Really surprised someone has not filled the gap that Pebble left. Projects like this get close, but it still boggles my mind that over a decade ago we had a polished and commercial e-ink smartwatch with a 1-week battery life, 5 atm waterpro

I understand the struggle, I was never a hat person until I went bald - now that hats are necessary in the winter I have learned to enjoy them. I still opt for sunscreen in the summer though.

The cure to baldness is hit the gym and pack on 20lbs of muscle, shave your head, and stop caring.

That’s pretty cool. I had always hoped someone would do something similar with CRTs. A modern CRT would be killer for gaming and retro computing.
