My mom was an ICU nurse for over 20 years, and yeah, the burnout is real. My mom always said that ICU is made up of a very small number of surgery recovery patients (who quickly get moved to a different section once they're past the cr

True, I don't disagree. Keto is just the easiest way I've found to eat at a caloric deficit without feeling deprived, hangry, or succumbing to cravings and eating half a cake in one sitting. Once you get past the first couple week

I eat reasonable portions of meat, not excessively large ones. Most of your calories on a ketogenic diet come from fat, not protein, both dietary fat and fat your body burns off if you're also losing weight at the same time. I would al

This diet sounds miserable. You'd be hungry all the time. I would also much rather eat low-carb (and I do, I am a T2 diabetic that eats a ketogenic diet). Which sounds more sustainable? Drinking 800 calories of milk and juice every day

Type 1 diabetics may be at risk for ketoacidosis if they screw up their insulin, but T2 diabetics are not at any risk from just a low-carb diet. The problem is having high blood sugar and high ketones simultaneously, not just having high ke

Hmm, something is not right with our setup then, because I have absolutely been blocked from playing games my wife has bought on her account on our PS4.

If you have multiple people in a household, each with their own Live/PSN/whatever account, you can buy one physical disc and it unlocks the game for everyone in the household. If you buy the digital version, it's locked to on

I worked in a building like this. Over the year I worked in that office, my asthma got gradually worse and worse. I went from using my rescue inhaler maybe once every couple months (for minor cough/discomfort), to using it multiple tim

Yeah, I eat keto, but I don't push it on people or think it makes me better than anyone. I'm a T2 diabetic, and it's simply the best way for me to eat to prevent losing my feet or winding up on dialysis someday. It's not

Also ADHD-PI, and yeah, hyperfocus is great for coding, but you have to be working on something "interesting enough" to trigger it. Not all the work you will do at work will be interesting, so without treatment you swing wildly be

I have depression, but it's currently fairly well controlled with medication. This ennui is not all the time, but occasional, and usually only for a period of a few hours. Depression is a different feeling to me. Depression is more fee

I feel like I experience two types of boredom. Regular boredom, which can foster creativity through daydreaming and finding new projects to work on, and what I usually call ennui, which is the type of boredom where I'm quite bored, but

For me it was my grandfather, but yes, I also got into programming at least partially due to nurture, not nature. Just teach kids to code, boy or girl. Not all of them will like it, not all of them will be good at it. But I think a lot more

What app are you using? I've read that meditation is essential for treating ADHD, and would love to try it too.

Yes, that sounds like ADHD. I was only very recently diagnosed. After my diagnosis, I read the book "You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?" and it explains how ADHD is a problem both of over- and under-stimulation (recommen

Yep, just diagnosed a week ago at age 38. If you did well enough in school, and have the inattentive-type ADHD, it's really easy for it to get missed in childhood. If you were smart enough to coast through school despite your procrasti

Mine wasn't exactly the same, but yes! I think the first program I ever wrote was in LOGO for the TRS-80. I wound up playing more with its built-in BASIC console than my LOGO cartridge though.
