It's good advice for multiple reasons. I put books down using this rule for many years. Sometimes I pick it up again and absolutely love it but I'm at a different point in my life and intellectual interests. It's kind of like

I'd love to see something like this. I'm an old computer science guy and would love to write software again. I can write plenty of functionality in Python but I don't really want to learn all the JS stuff. I just don't l

I wonder if we created the companies that we deserve? I worked at IBM a long time ago and they spent a ton of time and money developing employees. I was there when there was still a concept of “lifetime” employment. IBM was expensive but we

I don't think Google Corporate had any idea this was going on and that way more people were interested in it than normal and many were reporters and investors. It had a feel like a local Google dev group meeting which is informal. I st

This is a little off topic but related because I keep looking at these source code editor posts. I have always been looking for a little "sidekick" editor that is always in the background that you can invoke with a ctrl-<char&g

Seems like a great way to learn/practice songs. I'd love to learn a few that I could perform on stage with a band I know. I wonder if anyone has developed an app that could take a recording of my voice and identify the songs where

Seems like a very strange move. The Tesla seems to signal a lane change and abruptly slow down at the same time on a highway with no lights, intersections, turns, or obstacles. This was precisely the type of driving I figured would be easy

I visited LA this year and in fancy neighborhoods you still park on the street but you are not allowed to leave your car in the same spot for more than 72 hours or they ticket and tow. BUT if you are living in your vehicle the rule doesn’

I also like the "forever bottle" that is common with bourbon lovers like me. You take one of your nicer bottles and when another one is close to empty you don't finish it but instead dump it into a "forever bottle"

Seems like less regulation and less government leads to greater efficiency. The rich get richer often because of government loopholes. Carried interest is a simple one but in the 77,000+ pages of the tax code the rich have the resources to

I think they also pivoted from doing individual cards to just corporate. I had a Brex account and card and they ended up closing all that off. I never got around to using it. I did find Mercury Bank to be pretty good for a business account

We used Eiffel to build a funds transfer system way back when, Maybe 1990 or so. I met Bertrand a couple of times because my mentor was a huge fan. He built systems in banking using Modula-2 before Eiffel came along. Last I saw Bertrand he
