It really can't be said enough: bootstrap is phenomenal and the creators, maintainers, and contributors deserve immense praise. They've collectively saved our industry millions of hours of frustration and helped us achieve good-lo

Thank you for your donations! All of my work is in a volunteer capacity, so your donations help pay for our office space, pay for the few full-time staff we employee, and fund outreach, education, and direct advocacy to move municipalities

I fight for both market rate and subsidized housing in high-opportunity cities because it's the easiest way to life people out of poverty. Being able to live near high-income jobs is the most direct path to the middle class in America.

Thanks! 100% agreed that zoning is just redlining. We've given municipalities the ability to discriminate based on wealth rather than race, but wealth is a proxy for race in America: https://www.thebalance.com/racial-we

What do you mean exactly? SF races all have contribution limits of $500 and it hasn't helped. What campaign finance reform would solve regulatory capture, because low contribution limits isn't helping.

In San Francisco, at least, YIMBY is the organization that is organized around ending regulatory capture in housing, and The Neoliberal Project (in SF YIMBY Neoliberal) is organized around broader dismantling of regulatory capture. We mobil

I just bought a used/refurbished one from Madison seating for about the same price as I could find a used one on CL in SF (~$400). I've been using a Leap for years at the office and swear by them.

That's not induced demand, that's a standard demand curve. The price drops and more people buy it. Induced demand is "adding supply increased the price"

Yes, I unironically want 4 million new homes in San Francisco. The housing shortage in the Bay Area might be the single largest drag on American prosperity.

There's absolutely zero evidence of "induced demand" for housing. And all available evidence suggests that 1: SF & CA have huge shortages of homes and 2: Building more is a good solution. Please see this non-exhaustive li

I'm not sure calling it unfair is necessarily correct, but the incumbents use ballot props to increase their name recognition. It works like this: - A Supervisor puts a proposition on the ballot - organizations funnel money into the ca

I agree that it _shouldn't_ take that long. This project was first started in 2011. Construction won't start until some time in 2020 (optimistically). From https://www.sfexaminer.com/news/sf-transit-board-appr

All of the press releases state that cars are banned. In fact, taxis are still allowed (except for Uber and Lyft). As a daily bike commuter on Market street, this is hugely disappointing. There's very few cars on Market already, and ta

This is exactly right. Most of the problems in cities aren't due to technology, they're due to bad governance. Our solutions need to be political, not just technological.

Here in San Francisco, CLT won't be legal for buildings over six floors until about 2023 because of dumb policies. California uses the International Building Code as its base building code and then modifies it based on particular laws
