There isn't a comparable feature in Mail.app. If you turn on the "Advanced IMAP Controls" labs feature in gmail, you can switch off the labels that will give you the most trouble. You can do this with "All Mail" and "deleting" messages from

Generating an image from the PDF server-side is the only way to faithfully perserve the layout of the PDF. For some PDFs, Google will give you the option to view it as HTML (it seems to just be the PDFs returned in search results?). It's us

Remember when people chastised Microsoft for doing similar things (using IE-specific HTML/CSS for parts of an application interface)? I guess Apple have the web standards street cred to get away with it. (I know it's not entirely the same,

That was a very long, boring, and buzzword-pumped way of saying: "Apple should let you stream stuff from the iTunes Store".

I'm not suggesting that these questions would require a textbook, but rather that they aren't particularly insightful interview questions as they test something that can come by rote out of a textbook.

Screencasts are usually good to give an overview of something's capabilities, but rarely are they useful for teaching how something works. Unfortunately, talking into a microphone is easier than typing, and reading is harder than being dict

How does hosting it yourself protect you from these issues (downtime)? The only thing you gain is control over the situation, which may be a worse prospect if you don't have the same level of resources that Google/whoever has to fix it.

Are there any reasons to believe that we can generalise the behaviour of birds to humans? The article claims that we can, but I don't see why, especially given that "they're not as complex as humans".

This doesn't explain anything (I'm not even sure what there would be to explain), or seem to have any connection to Star Trek. All it seems to show is that in the late 90s shows started to merge sci-fi (or aspects of sci-fi) with other, mor

I don't think you understand what NSNull actually is. It's designed to behave as an empty placeholder object in collections that don't allow nil, nothing more. C's NULL isn't an issue either, nil == NULL == 0, and isn't encountered in any o
