Sure, that's the traditional analysis, but I think some companies (Apple) are showing that a simpler product line can lead to more sales. Customers are less likely to buy if they have too many options in some cases.

I haven't seen it in a long time, but +1 on the recommendation. I need to go borrow the DVDs from my parents and watch it again.

I believe you can opt-out of the data sharing if you want, though nobody does. In any event, I doubt Tesla is storing this data just to protect their company image. It may be a nice side benefit, but they have repeatedly said that the data

I'm not so sure about that, first off the pipelines feature doesn't exist on Bitbucket Server and Atlassian recommends you use Bamboo there. Secondly, that doesn't help with managing secure access to production servers with p

This makes sense to me because I have a feeling most people who would need to rely on BI also have a problem managing money. As an example, I once had a homeless guy ask me for money outside a grocery store. I suggested that we go inside an

I really want a way to configure bamboo via a text configuration file though. We're using it now, but we have to copy the configuration from build job to build job and each job ends up subtly different over time. :( Plus I really want

Agreed. Especially in a case like this where it's actually pretty trivial to write an extension for this behavior. This change decreases the maintenance of chromium, removes a non-obvious data-destroying keyboard shortcut, and still gi

Yes and no, if the first conditional is moved then the behavior of the function would be different. You could for example specify a fromIndex of -1 and a toIndex of -2. That would result in an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException instead of an Il

In 2015 Apple had ~234B in revenue. 10B is only 4.27% of that. If you look at the percentage of R&D vs sales that's still actually drastically less than they spent in R&D up until about 2005. It could just be that Apple has dec

Personally, I think CS students need to understand both programming by abstraction and programming by science (poking). The abstraction stuff is important for designing maintainable code. The science stuff is important for maintaining code.

Interestingly, while the Wright brothers are famous for having invented the airplane, they were utter business failures in the aviation industry. The main reason? IMO, they were too focused on patent litigation instead of innovation.

Maybe it's not actually that widespread? I mean, you always hear about the negative things and never about the positive things. That just the nature of life, the positive things are expected so they don't get mentioned.

Personally I like that analogy because it was recently revealed that people can 3D print working keys from a photo of a key. So even the "physical" key is vulnerable to security attacks of a digital nature. All someone needs to do

I hate the whole "left" vs "right" way of looking at politics. It's far more complicated than looking at things as a scale between two extremes.

Ember.js uses a similar naming convention. I'm not sure that it's that important to distinguish from IETF RFCs. Especially since the RFCs are linked in that document.
