Desktops can sleep as well. Boot time is important for embedded computers, e.g. in-vehicle systems, but otherwise I don't see why would this be such an issue.

I'm transitioning our small telecom business to LibreOffice. Not sure if that is representative at all. MS Office subscription model makes little sense for us. LibreOffice works well, and I am happy to see predominantly ODTs and ODSs n

Note SNR explanation is ruled out exclusively because of ORCs' high galactic latitudes. Based on the appearance of these objects my bet is that they are high-latitude SNRs indeed.

I've been using it on X1 as a desktop driver since 9.0. Lovely setup: http://trafyx.com/?p=2551 OpenBSD would be even cleaner and leaner, but I needed wine, keras, theano and a few other things it didn't offer.

I need this. Imagine the power of the appearance of a smoldering beak, and the stick - to prevent those people who ignore isolation from approaching! Bow to the Plague Doctors of 17th century.

Why bother with Mac? I've just built a Xeon E5-2640 using a Chinese X79 motherboard. NMVe, proper Radeon RX580 GPU - in an open build test bench frame. All in all, something like $250 on eBay for everything. Runs the games I like well

For those wondering about Maharshi, I would wholeheartedly recommend the book "Be as You Are, the Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi" edited by David Godman (Penguin) ISBN 978-0-14-019062-5.

How far does one have to go "out of their way" and who is to judge if one has gone enough? By this logic, racism is fully the responsibility of the employer. Are all employers responsible, then, for homelessness, drug addiction, c

Not a medical professional as well, but I can imagine a picture of a patient dying from coronavirus - say, due to the lung failure - should be quite different from the one dying from the heart disease. Shouldn't it?

Well, like I said - I recalculated for the flux of the 15 W lamp. An hour of zapping gets you to 1.72 J/cm^2 which is very close to your 1.8 J/cm^2 figure.

Yeah, I got a E27 socket wall plug with wireless control. I assume it should be possible to get a remotely controlled lamp with reflector to make a spotlight out of it.

As far as I understand, we are talking about flux - per area at specified distance, not luminosity. I did recalculate flux for 0.5 m.

With browsers eating half a gig just to launch these days, I agree 8 GB is borderline. I often hit the limit even just doing web browsing, e-mailing and a mix of other apps here and there, nothing fancy.
