Or is it the general trend of moving away from the centralized Internet, the force of deglobalization? Instead of upholding standards and cherishing RFCs it seems that so many people and corporations are trying to invent the next protocol,

Yes. But if we can extract versions of libraries used to build packages then it would be easy to audit the system by cross-checking against CVEs. Those who prioritize security would remove the affected package(s) until a new version is avai

I am arguing about this on FreeBSD forums - from an end user perspective. I think the benefits of saving disk space by sharing libraries do not justify the inconveniences we, desktop BSD and Linux users, obtain from being forced to disrupt

I'll probably be downvoted, and sorry for the off-topic, but I miss those days when you could approximate computing power by looking at the processor's model number. 386SX-33, 386DX-40, 486DX2-66, and so on... Right now it's

It's interesting to see the walrus operator in there. I wonder, is this another example of unnecessary features being added just to claim a bigger change list, or someone really needs this operator? Why would anyone prefer a walrus ins

I agree. What if everyone begins to include their children and pets at will, for whatever reasons they are up to today? The whole purpose of naming authors is defeated then.
