Well, everyone has their view, I don't think I'm any more right than you. You can give a technical definition of an OS from a CS textbook, but ultimately all of these are consumer/retail products created to benefit the end-us

I don't care for edge for the most part, but there is actually one integration with edge that I have come to like. When I click on an email link inside outlook, edge opens the link, and also displays a sidebar which displays the email.

There isn't a conspiracy against hiring people who are going to make you money. Anyone who adds value to a company and is going to generate more revenue than their labor cost is likely going to be hired over someone who does not.

You can type that comment, but perhaps if you were in someone else's shoes you'd have a different opinion.

Sort of. If you pay new-hires significantly more than existing employees for the same work, its not going to end well (and it can potentially open the company up to a lawsuit on discrimination grounds). I suppose the caveat is check your lo

I partially agree; they did make a big splash with all of those benefits, but also Google excludes 54% of their workforce (TVCs) from these benefits. Its a bit of a stretch to say tech workers owe Google for these benefits at other companie

It doesn't "correctly" predict anything because most of macro-economics is junk science with value only in the limited context of political platforms and giving people some sort of false hope. When the Nobel prize winner of E

You didn't say which country you were referring to, but capital is heavily regulated in the US. So is labor, so is profit. All economic activity is within the context of the governing laws, of which, there are too numerous to list here

You deserve to stay in business when you are a legal business entity that is following all the laws and regulations. Giving everyone a raise is not required by law. It is not a realistic strategy to get out of this inflationary environment

These simplistic models of Supply/Demand don't work in the real world. We have price-controls on rent, property tax increases, utilities, healthcare, etc, etc. Would you support removing those?

Thankfully, there isn't such a system anywhere in the developed world. We have price controls on rent, utilities, healthcare, etc. It would be extremely hard to convince folks in a democracy to vote against those.

(Going with the assumption that it's purely due to salary) If you adjust the salary for new-hires, you'll have to also adjust every employees salary otherwise it becomes unfair to existing employees. Lets give a raise to everyone

No worries, I got the point you were trying to make, my comment was directed more at people who snipe at successful products - when the reality is a lot more nuanced/complicated. There is complete freedom to criticize, but then (I beli

I didn't find DOS or Windows to be any less stable than other consumer operating systems. But regardless of which code-base is more/less stable, niche code-bases don't get stressed in the same way as a mainstream consumer OS.

I don't feel bad in point out flawed arguments or articles. Its up to the author to take the feedback for what it is, or discard it.

This whole idea is completely wrong, in my opinion. You first need to demonstrate why your sampling model/methodology (collection of top50 NA CS departments) will lead to an error-free way to establish a discrimination type mechanism o

Google employees can access this data too; and sometimes they get fired. Do you know anyone who has been the victim of online harassment or having personal data leaked online? Its a harrowing experience.

This type of concentration of power in a privately held for-profit corporate entity is bad. There isn't any reason to trust a random Google employee - dozens of whom have been fired by Google for accessing personal data. Removing the t
