I think this will be interesting. But the biggest cost to these institutions would probably be developing the app that would be published, rather than $99/year to get it published. But that’s not accounting for volunteers...

I disagree. Sure some do that, but a lot don’t and focus on data on customers and are hard working. Even bad companies are hard working. It’s just sometimes the founders can’t get the product to have a product-market-fit. And product-market

I know a fair bit of YC companies, and a trend is clear from the last few years. As they say: it's not that YC picks the best startups, it's that the startups they pick "become" the best startups (i.e. crappy companies l

Anyone unfamiliar with how things currently work: macOS and iOS use 2 different UI frameworks (CocoaTouch and UIKit, respectively). And this causes problems when trying to compile the source code between the two platforms. Ex: things like f

I've asked myself the same question. But back in 2015, when the rules were put in place, there was a controversy (Netflix and a court ruling) and people cared. When will the next time people "care" to put it back in? Just how

As a DAW created by a single person, I must say great job. But one thing that stuck out for me most was the merging of instruments into a single visual track. As a person that designs simple DAW interfaces for a living [1], I highly recomme

One clarification: is the Startup Founder track form out now or will it be published later on. By the text of the blog, it sounds like it's all ready to go - but no link to such a form can be found.

But your method also ignores mobile access - which is huge.

Oh no - I'm reading the comments! With all seriousness, I've gone through this experience. Working hard day and night and then having a bunch of hate reviews on the internet, and really awkward and weird ones on the App Store. My

Sam Altman recently tweeted that YC now has an AI to help partners review applications [1]. I'm curious what that AI does. Does it scrape data from the application to display it on the side (like downloads, revenue, MAU, etc). Does it

I actually think this article is a bit narrow minded. Apple wants the phone to be your central hub (and has succeeded). You can't live without your phone. You use it for a medical study, for private messaging, for intimate photos, etc.

It's not copyright, but trademark (it's a subtle, but important distinction). And for trademarks, the short answer is it depends. Some trademarks have no protection (generics or ones that become generic) and others have infinite p

What's interesting about this case is, when it started, the sides were split 50/50 between Apple and the FBI. But as time went on, and Apple's PR, legal, and executive machine spoke and educated more people on the issue, the

Not a fan of the pro-gov person not seeing the connection to the first amendment and writing code a software engineer does not want to write. I do hope this case gets thrown out early or ends up SCOTUS.

I think the failings in this article stems from a misunderstanding on how to use C++ correctly, and just compares it to a language the author is more familiar with, C#. C++ most definitely has a lot of faults, but at the same time, I'v
