This story, like many, brings warm feelings to me. I lived in Japan for 5 mo during a student exchange (Kyoto) and I can say, that even though there was at least 3-4 different train lines operated by different companies in Kyoto alone, it w

That was my first thought. This is brilliant, but the FS is way overworked, making this less practical and going back to the original solution (because it's fast). It's a trade off between speed and variability, which for games (a

Honestly, it's fantastic! I couldn't tell it was made with Strikingly until the end. The images used, the division of products and copy layout are done really well. In regards to concept, I think it's great YC is promoting YC

It feels like the loses from a suicide apartment should be covered by insurance, rather than estates or families of the deceased. I'm not saying this insurance does or doesn't exist (I don't know); but this is the "idea

I wish Dorsey's apology came with some real change, to their ToS for example and immediate reversal of bad decisions. Rather than just, tweet what would you like to see. Actions speak louder than words, no matter how small.

MIND BLOWN - this is using WebGL? Unbelievable! The only thing I wish it had was more interactions, but as is it demonstrates that WebGL is not just a toy, but something to be taken more seriously in the GL community.

I think the reason he or others may perceive a slow down in innovation happens because innovation is more incremental, but is released far more quickly, thus making up for small increments. A good example is the Windows or Mac OS, which too

Really glad to see these trends, not only at Stanford, but other universities. Diversity in any field makes it richer.

I agree and disagree with this point. The absolute worse thing a startup can do is to "flip"/"redo" their code base, in an attempt to clean it up. We learned that the hard way last year. That said, going through cod

What if the feedback is 'we think the market is too small'. It seems the way to improve is drastically change the product (/pivoting), or is there another way?

Interesting how it lists Real-Time programming from uWaterloo. It's likely the toughest class taught at the university, requiring at least 40h of work a week.

Some really cool points on getting started. Coding is hard and "coders" (like me) take getting started for granted. Worse, for new coders, it can sometimes feel like you need to jump to the top of the mountain rather than taking i

[Originally a reply to a statement that "1.0" should be reliable on systems because of the spec] Yeah, but all systems are made by humans, and all humans make mistakes - hence the GPU fragment shader error on the A7 that would occ
