I don't own a car, I use my bike for non-entertainment purposes as well. Waze app is very useful for me - in addition to helping me get to places, it reports traffic jams and speed limits (not all roads have clear signs). If I were rid

I mount my phone on my motorcycle and use it for navigation / maps. Yes, it's a distraction, but I need to know where I'm going and stopping at every intersection to check my phone also makes no sense.

Yeah, that's something a rational person should do. Self destruction hardly ever is rational however, and it's near impossible to see all of the collateral damage you make when destroying yourself.

I grew up eating the Rhubarb plant by tipping the root side (stem?) In sugar and just eating it like that. It's very sour like that, which as a kid I loved.

I have the same exact thing and am only recently realising that it's not very common. So far I've always been amazed when people do not have a similar way of navigating, or any good sense of direction at all, but for me it usually

No more waterproof phones I guess. This saddens me. I find it very useful when driving my bike outdoors with it being mounted to my bike.

Been a full-stack Clojure dev for 5 years now, and yeah, fully agree with everything you've said. I'm actually seeing how modern languages these days have a vastly superior debugging process than Clojure can provide, and with much

Yeah, my MacBook Pro (M1 Pro chip) also starts lagging with this page, although it does load. I'd say if high-end machines have trouble running stuff, maybe it should be refactored.

Are you active on the Clojurians Slack channel? On #jobs and #remote-jobs channels every now and then a US job pops up there. You can also post on those channels that you are open for work, might help. I'd also check out some EU job of

As far as the metrics state, Clojure never faded away. It's on an upward trajectory still, albeit slowly. Perhaps it faded away in terms of "HN hype of the day". That said, I've been (and currently am) a Clojure engineer

I'm assuming this is not in Europe, where automated cash registries in grocery stores is more common every day. In Estonia lots of grocery stores have ~10 automatic registries and just 1 real human one. The automated one needs no human

Ever since I stopped doing mainstream stuff, and went niche[1], I've had zero problems finding a job and I'm not that special. There's a lot of people on the planet, more every day, so if you expect your life in the gray mass

But Reagent supports functional components as well, with hooks and all. I don't see why I'd have to change an entire library because class components are being retired. I also very much like Hiccup, and so do many of us, because c

Are you suggesting that one has to forgo their favourite code editors, and learn what is arguably the most complex editor, in order to use Clojure? That's the kind of attitude that makes all beginners run away.

Yeah, for Emacs users I'm sure Clojure is great. For the other 99% of us who use VS Code or IntelliJ or something else entirely, it really isn't. Though IntelliJ + Cursive I'd say is probably the best, it still pales in compa
