An Opinel #7 would be fine. Carbon steel, or stainless. A Victorinox Tinker would also be fine. Some people like serrated blades. A Leatherman would be great. Basically anything Spyderco/Benchmade is way more than sufficient. I wo

Wow so I looked at a map: Portland, Oregon is north of Portland, Maine? Maine?! That is surprising. And I was the nerd in high school pointing out Rome is north of NYC.

I'm not sure this [1] is what you're talking about but it reminded me of reading about pre-combustion chambers in diesel cylinders. Interesting stuff. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indirect_injection#Cla

It was that weird new popup on the left side of the address bar, saying something about privacy on the web.. Once you know what they're talking about, it had a No Thanks button right on it. IMO I don't like browser DNS myself but

Half-serious startup idea: Telemetry Escrow, where I send data to Escrow, can inspect what it is, then Microsoft pays per datum. Escrow holds all historicals / some samples, depending on tier. Does the data have value? , after all?

PulseAudio is the only program I've seen really stress my Ryzen. I recommend fixing the default sampling config if you have similar issues. This is a really entertaining writeup, given the subject matter.

I am new to Pop, just installed over top Ubuntu (uptime 61d, I shed a tear). Pop is great. The mouse feels better (but I can't increase scroll rate?), the window manager keys are so sane. I just realized you can turn on Emacs input f

I think your argument is well-written (aside from s/effects/affects/ in effects an extremely limited..) but just not convincing. I think this part goes way too far presuming intent, really hurts your case without a qualifier.

Do any accounts have 2 work emails tied to them, I wonder? Would they hand it to Company A, who would gain whatever IP of Company B that was still in the account? Would they arbitrate who gets what? You know, the one thing nice about us

There is a Sublime Text plug-in [1], but it's been a while since I used it. I think it's in Python, not elisp. If you're just looking to edit Org files, Emacs is hard to beat. I don't use Org files so much anymore, mor

It seemed rare 3-4 years ago, but now Kroger, Publix, Walmart, Target, they all have ~6-12 s/c registers, sometimes at each end of the store (often so far apart a line forms at one, while the other remains empty). There seem to be a lo

Mac Pros not being MacBooks is an interesting point. A wide range of products leads to a spectrum of quality. Die-hard fans may be the ones in the high-price/-reliability quadrant, but maybe 5x more are attracted by the lower-price&#

Snow Leopard was the first "cheap" version of OS X, $29 (IIRC). People who went Tiger -> Leopard had to pay for the privilege, and after Snow Leopard it was all free (EDIT: no, I was wrong, it was later.. but it was cheaper)

Also maybe consider flameless candles, powered by 2xAA (rechargeable, even). They can turn on/off automatically! Just add candle holders. I suspect they use LEDs, 2xAA lasts maybe 2 months running 5hrs/day (on internal timer).
