It's hard to do the latter. When is the appropriate time to intervene to ask if everything is ok? But I can't tell you how many times I've not had a fork, or needed a drink and my waitperson never came to ask if I needed anyt

Tipping is supposed to be for exceptional service. For example, if the wait person takes your order and brings your food and nothing more I wouldn't tip. If they do the above and keep your water glass filled constantly without need to

Thanks for taking the time to reply both of you. I've always wondered how those of you who are able to do remote 100% of the time do it. This helps get us started. Thank you.

A question to all of you who only work remotely, and I'm sure it's been covered by HN so forgive me, but where do you find reliable work that's remote? I can see getting lucky maybe and scoring one maybe two gigs that allow r

I can't even tell what this does. I just woke up but is this like capsicum on freebsd, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=raNx9L4VH2k , or jails in the FS, or both? Clearly I need to wake up.

Savers? What savers? No one is saving. Americans are drowning in debt. How many studies have been done showing the average American is living Paycheck to paycheck and couldn't sustain losing their job or a medical emergency? Even those

So let me add myself into your equation. I live in Kansas City. I pay $70/mo for google fiber. 1Gbit down, 1Gbit up. So for twice what TWC is charging you I get 10x more bandwidth down, and 100 times more bandwidth up. So can we agree

I think it's standard op in the states when 911 is called that fire/ems/cops show up. I'm very! Glad to hear the cops use their power of discretion to let her go. And not fucking ruin her already bad life by imprisoning

I feel like its "something else". Anytime I hear stories like this I think of Amazon reviews where clearly someone is doing something incorrectly yet blames the company. Shrug.

Same here. The fact the above poster got two replacement phones for free is proof they have good service. You think a dead pixel on a google pixel phone will get replaced? Let alone twice. I don't think so. Apple has good service but t

Yes, it was odd. They are still rolling out in the cities they are in but have given up expanding to other cities. As usual I think they just don't have the will to power through the issues to keep deploying in city after city. Or they

Apples main audience is not technical people. There is your first mistake. So comparing apples support for non technical people to dells technical oriented people support is flawed.

First google is no apple. Don't expect that level of service. They simply don't care. Second it's not just with their new phone the pixel they support poorly. Try having problems with google fiber. The stories of them taking

If your that concerned with redundancy use a 3-disk striped mirror with ZFS. Redundancy AND great I/O.

I run stripped mirrors with ZFS. 2x2. RAIDZ is simply to slow in comparison. Like A LOT slower. Ill just eat the storage loss with mirrors. Disk is cheap.

Interesting to me is that in the US most parents want to give their kids the boot at 18. In India, where my wife is from, family lives together. Family is a big thing there. It is not uncommon to see mom and dad, daughter and son, grandmas
