This is because when I was growing up (Windows 95 era), it was normal for a computer to just completely freeze regularly. If I saw a static "processing", I'd assume the computer froze and would rip out the power after like 5

GPS time is already immune from leap seconds. It has a fixed offset from TAI of 19 seconds and always will. It also contains UTC offset information so that you can derive the current UTC time from GPS if you wanted to.

I always kind of predicted that services like YouTube will eventually end up just like cable TV when it comes to ads (formerly known as "commercials"). I think even services that you pay for (like Netflix) will eventually get ther

What's the general consensus on when these will start rolling out to the public? I know I can look this up on my own but there's so much conflicting info out there and things are changing so fast.

I never had to install any drivers. It all just worked. To be honest, I have no idea how. It just shows up as a network printer.

If all you need is black and white printing, there is no need to be buying HP inkjet printers anymore. Get yourself a <$100 Brother laser printer and never look back. They work under Linux without any configuration and you can refill the

The Volvo page is so much better in my opinion. It's neat with decent information density. I'm not a fan of pages that try to do the whole dynamic immersive full screen huge picture thing.

Nah, it's okay to split an HDCP encrypted stream as long as you enforce HDCP on the outputs as well. I think the standard allows for something like 32 endpoints.

I know that at least the Minuteman III ICBMs are inertially guided. They program the coordinates into it and hit "send". No remote control, no flight termination.

Yes, I realize that. My comment was in response to the criticism of these companies being funded by tax dollars while being granted a patent. The implication being that we're paying (as taxpayers) but getting nothing in return since we

Personal anecdote: I'm still driving the 2011 BMW 335i that I bought in 2014. It now has 265,000+ miles. The key with owning a BMW is to do all of the maintenance yourself. That brings the cost of ownership back down to planet Earth. I
