In game development we don't use futures or similar mechanisms. We use job systems. They are much more powerful for serious muktithreading requirements. I'm not saying futures are useless at all, but we wouldn't use them wher

And what kind of crappy security were they encoding those files with that the foreigners could crack? Maybe it was encryption that the NSA put a back door into, which means they are now getting their just desserts. It sucks to be back doore

That's an acknowledged AMD bug which is fixed but I don't believe it's available yet. Oculus v0.6 apps can always just run in direct mode and avoid that problem.

As usual, this guy doesn't understand how to use C++. Nobody with any significant C++ experience puts error generating code in constructors. Once I saw that I stopped reading.

These solutions are fine for old and simple games, but don't scale as solutions to large scale games. Source: I've worked on such games.

I expect that remote key amplifier attacks work against Tesla like they do against other cars. I wish automakers weren't in denial about this problem.

If Toyota had anything to do with that analysis then it wasn't independent. My recollection of the Barr analysis is that a particular failure case was in fact described which occurs during certain conditions of memory exhaustion: http

There are so many things Xcode does worse than Visual Studio, and so few things it does better. 5:1 ratio. Yesterday I was dealing with how Xcode's disassembly mode debugging is so bad compared to VS that it's nearly unusable.

Microsoft didn't need to do any "innovating." They just needed to adhere to existing and emerging standards. Also, Microsoft needs to seriously stop using that word "innovation,"because the more they talked about it

Long ago when developing for the PS2 gaming machine, we used this exact technique to achieve a 10x faster mutex on that platform than using the semaphore directly as a mutex, so it hasn't always been pointless.
