- tim333 11y agoGladwell doesn't say there was no problem. He says "[in the Pinto case] two dozen of their occupants were killed by fires from rear collisions. The number of deaths linked to the Toyota sudden-acceleration complaints was about the same." And then points out that number is small compared the number of lives that could be saved many other ways.
