Surveillance already exists. Cameras and sensors are everywhere in any modern city. Selling that data off to Google to do god knows what with it is the issue. Ofcourse I live in a country with a reasonably well functioning government. They

Makes sense. If you are a rich person in Russia or Brazil you never know when things may go bad and having a safe house in Vancouver or London or Paris is a good idea. At least that dirty cash does some good in Canada.

I don't know how the job market is in the US but here nobody gets a long term contract anymore. Yes I too want to have a steady job for 40 years with a nice pension plan. Sadly its 2019 not 1957.

Xi is being publicly called out by Trump. He cannot fold because the Chinese people are at least as patriotic and nationalistic as your average American. Instead of making this a civilised conference resolving trade issues its a pissing mat

Prices have gone down though. You can buy a Logitech mouse for €25 including shipping. For such a price replacing it every year isn't a big deal.

Sadly in the US its creditcards or PayPal. Banking system is archaic as hell, no innovation in decades. The big American banks could digitalize and utterly rape PayPal if they wanted but why bother?

Neither of those points is an excuse for breaking the law unless you're mentally ill. In which case you should still be locked up but this time in a mental institution. Just pay for your ticket or walk.

Putting someone in jail for breaking the law isn't about costs. Besides before you know it nobody pays for their ticket and then what? This is a nice deterrent for any other sad sack who thinks he is above the rules.

You can tax the shit out of people if you provide something in return. Millionaires don't flee the Netherlands or Sweden.

And this is why Amsterdam said fuck no to the Olympics. If your country is already obscenely rich and you're literally reduced to begging tourists to please stay away what is the point of hosting the Olympics?

To be fair rape is difficult to prove. It often comes down to two people telling different things. A judge is supposed to look at the evidence and if there isn't any there isn't much to be done. We don't prosecute people base

Seems to me this whole shitshow started when the prosecution went into rape cases without any evidence whatsoever aside from "I got raped". A judge doesn't care about politics so a case like that will be thrown out of court.

Every government in the world has dissuaded its citizens to get involved with crypto. If there is a bankrun on ING or WellsFargo the government will act. With Tether you're on your own. Cryptocurrency places you outside the financial s

Rational traders? What planet do you live on. Humans are not rational. The world of finances has more to do with psychiatry and sociology.

Replacing ads with other ads. Genius. I use ad blockers because advertising doesn't add anything meaningful to my experience. I don't think there are a lot of ublock users who actually miss seeing ads.

Doesn't Apple have a fiduciary duty to its shareholders? Sure American politics is corrupt but it would be utterly asinine for a big company like Apple not to engage with politicians.

Yeah I visited a retail expert panel and they were talking about how in the 80s and 90s we looked at the US for trends and now China is the inspiration. Malls are out apps are in. Its almost scary how fast physical retail is dying.
