At the end of the day businesses make their own decisions. Technically Walmart CAN sell 18 rated videogames- perfectly legal. But they refuse to.

If you look at Chinese history they are remarkably non expansionist. Chinese power has always come from their culture and trade. Japan uses Chinese characters not because they were ever invaded by a Chinese army. Soft power isn't a mod

Not true. https://www.bol.com/nl/ Amazon isn't some kind of god. If someone else is cheaper, faster and already well established they can be beaten.

AliBaba is already gaining marketshare in Europe. The Chinese company supports local payment systems, their customer service is surprisingly good, they are actually hungry for business and most importantly CHEAP. Amazon got a bit arrogant

The American middle class is being kept alive with cheap Chinese goods. The entire US economy is based on consumer spending so when prices go up it will hurt.

Well I don't want to make this into an argument about who was worse but the Russians didn't honor the Geneva convention. The last German POWs weren't released until the mid 50s.

You don't. If the People want shit healthcare let them have it. And the US will serve as a reminder to us all.

Yes the Netherlands is sinking. Hilariously enough its because of draught. The entire country is basically man made and a natural disaster. Luckily there is virtually unlimited budget and good engineering to keep things going.

Wait America deserves a pat on the back for providing basic infrastructure? What standards do we hold the US to, Bangladesh or the Netherlands?

You are assuming people would pay for an ad free GMAPS. Google tried this with YouTube Red. It doesn't work. Apple users may be willing to pay for apps, Android users don't swing that way.

There aren't a lot of good alternatives to Maps though. I do find that the service is becoming more and more unusable with all the shitty product placements.

Uhm what? Non US citizens aren't covered by the Constitution. Its why you never ever do anything illegal when you are in the US. I would try to smuggle a bag of heroine into Singapore before ignoring a red light in New York.

The reason why people don't care is because they never actually put their car even anywhere near the limit. In the Netherlands for example you are either driving on a perfectly immaculate and smooth highway at 130 kph max or driving in

Following someone around all day taking notes would be considered stalking. I think the fundamental problem here is that people in the EU will choose privacy over the ability of companies to make money. Its a different outlook on life. When

Yeah I don't know how it is in the US but in my country everyone is employed on a temporary basis. The days of actually getting a stable job for life are long gone. Getting a two year contract is the best you can get.

One of my favourite torrent sites decided to go private because of DMCA takedown requests. That probably wouldn't work for Reddit. But it just illustrates that the pirate ship will keep on sailing even if you can't see it.

Consider this: a salary of €500 in Romania would net you the same purchasing power as someone who earns €1500 in Denmark. How would that work in a capitalist economy?

Life isn't fair and neither is capitalism. Living in a poor country has consequences.

Rich people have multiple passports, Swiss bank accounts and real estate in New Zeeland for when shit goes down. They have options. Namely get the hell out of Dodge. I don't think they are really all that attached to Miami.

This isn't really necessary. Make a DNA database of crimnals. That guy who killed a child and left his sperm behind? He is bound to slip up and get arrested for something sooner or later. No need for the FBI to start fishing for everyo

I think a lot of people still have this idea that everyone in Africa is poor. The reality is that Africa has flagship carriers that are as old and prestigious as those found in the West and that the African economy is booming.

You are not wrong. The future is extreme high density living. We are trying to put 7 billion people in cities. People have to give up their suburbia dreams.

The airline industry is growing and there are only two manufacturers who can build hundreds of planes on time. Airbus is already near full capacity. It would be impossible NOT to buy Boeing if you want planes.

Yeah but international weapons treaties are actually being sabotaged by our beloved and glorious leader Trump right now so I wouldn't count on it. Everyone seems to be gearing up for a new race of tic tac toe.
