Substitute whistleblower for reporter and yes, nearly all politicians will use the criminal justice system to silence their critics. Was Obama a fascist? I have no desire to engage in whataboutism, they all show their true colors when they&

Nearly all politicians act like this when they're in power. The general public is easily mislead. HN notices it when it's a tech issue, but it happens in economics, medicine, basically everywhere. They have zero incentives to acce

Oh no, a loss of context! Anything but that. The student offered to speak personally to anyone offended. Talk. Like adults do. Instead the administration tried to bully him and threaten his career unless he apologized for being racist, a cl

Alerting is useful regardless of the dog's motivation. However my dog is definitely not alerting solely out of fear. He can be aggressive towards strangers in certain situations, and I'm totally confident he would confront an intr

I'm aware of Smith's discussion of specialization of labor from an economic perspective but not from a social one, where can I read more about this?

With good UX for chat and excellent file sharing. Very sad it didn't get more traction. I still use it.

Agreed, file sharing via Keybase is a dream. It automatically creates an encrypted folder on my filesystem that is shared with the other party. Super convenient, I tried to evangelize it solely for this reason.

The video contains a video showing exactly how the holes are used in manufacturing. You seem to dislike people who create content on YouTube but this video seems well sourced.

I am guessing the most popular streamers have gotten where they are by hard work. Yes some is luck, attractiveness, etc. But that's true in all careers. Just because they're playing games doesn't mean they aren't working

I've been poor and rich, insanely busy and idle. Wealth removes the day to day stress, and that goes a long way. But it doesn't bring happiness itself. Same with work. Idleness is fun for a short while, then awful. We all know too

In theory free labor for big tech companies will reduce their costs and some of that reduction will then be passed onto their customers. So the labor is still beneficial more broadly.
