The gaming community is toxic in general but frankly this is not the issue here. The employee simply overreacted, responded offensively and got fired.

Totally deserved IMO. The employee in question posted some tweets about “narrative design” and some streamer (seemingly politely) replied that he disagreed before reiterating the same points the employee made. The employee then goes on a mi

The calls are free for you, the carrier still pays - nowhere near the robbery-grade rates they would normally give to out-of-bundle international mobile calls, but they’re probably paying around 1p a minute for most of the EU.

Are you sure? This behaviour is actually desirable because the shitty company behind it enjoys the fact that they get less calls as a result. This problem could’ve been solved for ages without Duplex - simply call, they remember your call a

The affected developers should “cease and desist” by stopping further development and releasing the code as open-source. WhatsApp/Facebook will then have to send C&Ds to hundreds of potentially anonymous contributors if they want a

Because most carriers are shit and don't even allow you to set policies on what the SIM can be used for. I have a bunch of M2M SIMs here and they are capable of making calls using a number I didn't even know existed. The SIMs are

You don't even need Asterisk. Twilio now supports SIP registration and is much easier to manage than maintaining your own Asterisk.

Maybe whoever sending the content to the marketing company did the mistake, and the marketing company just obeyed their orders and uploaded it without further checking.

Auto-generated emails are not the fault of email itself. Just avoid signing up for shit and if you need to sign up then take 5 minutes to visit your account settings on that platform and uncheck any notifications/spam-letters you don

Not an expert in German legislation, but is this even legal? Seems like those people weren't convicted nor even suspected of crimes. I hope the victims fight back and get adequate compensation.

Just a question, since you appear to be using email as your primary communication medium, what software/workflows do you use? On my side I always use Slack, and while I understand its drawbacks it seems to be the best for me so curious

Probably the software is garbage (especially since they don't even support a recent version of Postgres) and does something that just barely works with Postgres itself, but completely explodes with PGBouncer.

Great write-up, however I have concerns over the security of this product, especially the part where they submit a Slack token directly over email. Email itself is not secure, but at the very least an attacker intercepting a single message

I don't consider cultures nor religions as races, simple as that. The original comment didn't mention any races, so I interpret his "third-world people" as meaning those people's cultures instead of their skin color

How much is it actually a problem as far as crime is concerned? I know some countries where it's really bad but haven't heard of this issue in Denmark so can't comment.
