The focus on being a spy is useful but ultimately misguided. The real problem is being so cocksure to begin with. You DON'T know everything, and other people generally do have something to offer.

Status often does suck, but it's a necessary evil. There is too much information out there -- filters of some kind are necessary, and status is more reliable than most

Dead on. I found myself cringing at your suggestion that pg has said something ridiculous, and I like to think I'm less affected by status than most.

Doubtful. I know people who act much the same way in person, and while tempers occasionally flare, I've never seen it get physical.

In my experience the Cliff Notes distill out all the parts actually worth reading. The talking points tend to be obvious. The devil is in the details

The only problem with cutting out #2 and #3 completely is that you don't always know what information will be useful to you.

It's probably a combination. Mood (mental state) is critical for me. Lists and timers can work well in the right state. Otherwise they just add more layers to procrastinate with.

This might be unconventional, but it's the only thing that worked for me: Exercise, but not out of duty. Use it to pump up your state and get endorphins flowing. Weight lifting works well, but pushups, squats and other body weight exercises

This is absolutely true. Although rocking a dyed mohawk for awhile may help you develop a strong personality. Because you already stand out, you might worry less about fitting in and be free to express your true self.

I only said I was giving up email. I love how I'm being attacked for my sarcasm while Sebastian gets to say you'll end up dead in a ditch if you have a phone with nary a peep. C'est la vie.

"If you can see a bubble happening, then it will cease to be a bubble." This statement is over-simplified. Let's talk real-estate speculation for a minute. You could be aware that the price you're paying for some property is over-valued, bu

Modern convenience is for suckers. I think I'm going to take this all the way and get rid of email as well. The Amish had it right after all. If you can't work with that, you're a flake!

In the modern business world? Seems a bit extreme to me. You'll have to explain that you don't have a phone constantly. Doctor's office: "Where can we reach you with your test results?" Sorry, you can't. Mechanic: "What number should we cal

A bit over-dramatic coming from Sebastian. Some decent points, but too hyperbolic to take seriously. Also, some of them only apply to his unique situation (4/5). Many of the other points can be dealt with through other means. Tell idiot cou

If the ability to "go places" is what's important, than doesn't that make the C player the A player? It's like we're measuring something, then saying we really want to measure this other thing instead.

This makes sense on one level, but it's confusing on another. As a recent transplant to the bay area and an engineer at a big company, I don't feel like I have many "leads" to offer people. But in order to meet people, I need to network. Ho

So try once a day? Don't worry so much about the scheduling? Meditate for 20 minutes if you can, 1 minute if that's all you have? It sounds like you got off on the wrong foot. A big part of meditating is learning to accept without judgement
