I think this is worth revisiting once we get some solid 3rd party numbers from the new mac studio ultras, which admittedly are a bit over $10k with a 2tb ssd + 256gb ram. I think I'd be seriously considering it if I had a $200/mon

I think there's a strong consensus that the idea of an "AI art scene" is a misnomer. There's an AI slop scene, and some of the prompters sure do call themselves artists.

I think there's a valid argument for this pattern when you know most people are on 3-ish year upgrade cycles. Also, if you compare against the most recent generation, you risk creating buyer's remorse for recent purchases.
