It's _better_ for the EU to define these things. If the EU hasn't done it centrally, member states would be doing it individually. This way: 1) You get a single definition of cucumber class 2C for every country, rather than a b

It won't be the same for all, but my car won't autorestart the engine if I've opened the door i.e. the behaviour changes from - pull up, shift to neutral, engine stops - wait - car worries about battery, restarts engine to -

Correct. There are several levels at which this applies: Phone hardware (microphones, speakers) are only calibrated to detect 'useful' frequencies for human speech. The sampling rate used by audio codecs tend to cut off _before_

Uninterested != intolerant You can scream your opinion on topic X all day long, but no one has to listen. That doesn't make them intolerant.

I've introduced confusion here by talking about leaning left. I should have said 'shift your weight such that the bike leans left'. See my other comment for a fuller explanation.

I shouldn't have mentioned 'leaning left'. If I'm in contact with the top of my bike and not steering the bars, I can either push the top of the bike left or right. I push the top of the bike to the left. The bike and

I'd like to especially highlight your 'at speed' point here. It's often claimed that _all_ steering on a bike requires countersteering, but that is false. Countersteering allows rapid change of direction, but if you&#x

(also in the UK) Completely agree with your closing remark. By and large, by deciding to not care about stopping cars getting in front of me, it doesn't bother me when they do. Any delay is completely negligible.

I second this. There are three scenarios if I'm not overtaking: 1) I'm going faster than the vehicle in front. In this case, it doesn't matter if another vehicle pulls in between us because I'm about to overtake anyway.

My understanding is that the eye doesn't have a great dynamic range, but our brain tricks us (as with a lot of vision). When looking at dark things, we can't make out bright detail and vice versa. As soon as you look at a bright

Not much better. I believe a bunch (all?) of ESA launches go from French Guiana, so my guess is that might be the easiest place to go for orbital launches for a British company.

It's not the same in the important way: research shows we enjoy experiences more than owning extra things. No one's saying "I'll go on holiday to Spain because that's unique, whereas a $500 handbag isn't"

$15,000 per child per year * 2 classrooms * 2 children per class room = $600,000 per year, not $300k. Knocking off 100k for <foo> leaves 500k between the 5 staff, which is 100k each.
