As the sea level rises, its surface grows by the square. So, more and more water is needed for it to rise more. So, all linear predictions are flawed anyway. What do you think, the sea is suddenly going to rise by meters? Get a grip on real

I love how it's called Elementary OS but it's just a Ubuntu Linux with some sugars. I already got excited about another operating system but it's same old, same old.

It is ironic how Germany represses fascism that comes in the form of Nazism, but not fascism that comes from Islamic fundamentalism. A clear double standard.

Just take all documents, move to China or Russia and build a ton of these. That'd make the US think twice about messing with inventors.

Why? Even a toddler can solve a number of difficult adaptive problems. Like walking or catching a ball. We tend to forget that what is difficult with machines, the body does with ease sometimes.

When I was 18 I did what I was told. Mostly, anyway. If my parents told me my future depended on taking a 250'000$ loan, I might have just done it, especially if they raised me in that belief.

Of course, the state incentivises this scam by giving massive loans to young people who cannot even comprehend what they're doing until it's too late.

The e-mails should have put her in prison, and they would have put anyone else in the same situation in prison. But you're right, with her being her, they're a complete nonissue. They simply don't matter at all.

That reminds me of my old comment about this https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12492856 I'm really not overly negative about new things but this was predictable.

Yes, and notation is key. If there is even just one symbol that the student can't understand, then the entire understanding of the paragraph, or even entire book, is at stake. However, I do think that examples and applications help a g

I would never request such explicit pictures from anyone but I would consider it a huge abuse of trust if I found out someone used wrong pictures claiming they're theirs, and that would be the end of that relationship.

Frankly, any photo or video on digital media is just a tiny little step away from being irreversibly published to the internet. People should never make photos or videos of that kind if they don't want it to be public.

That's funny how that works in Norway. In Switzerland, if you ignore all the letters of conscription you get fines and after some years, you will be visited by two very kind policemen who put you in prison. Hmm, that is interesting. Wh

Rape culture? In the west? Explain. Rape incidents have never been lower in America than in the last few years, as shown by fbi.gov and other governmental intitutes. And this despite many efforts of encouraging victims of rape to speak out.
